Grilled Nectarines and Berries

(originally made 7/2008)

Blueberries are in season.   Peaches are very good also.   But there's something about that fuzz that Jake just doesn't like!   So I grabbed 3 nice nectarines instead.    I assembled the packets and had them ready to go and when our lunch came off the grill, on they went.   They took just about 20 mins, with a few mins for them to cool enough to touch.   I pulled out the nectarine first, laid it in the dish and then poured the contents of the packet out over it.   The butter, berries and sugar make this syrupy, yummy lick-the-plate-good sauce.   It's great as is, but could also be served with vanilla ice cream.

Grilled Peaches 'n' Berries

Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
3             medium  ripe peaches -- halved and pitted (used nectarines)
  1                cup  fresh blueberries
  2        tablespoons  brown sugar
2        tablespoons  butter or margarine (used butter)
  1         tablespoon  lemon juice (omitted)

Place each peach half, cut side up, on a double thickness of heavy-duty foil (12 in. square). Sprinkle each with about 2 tablespoons blueberries, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon butter and 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Fold foil around the peaches and seal tightly. Grill, covered, over medium-low heat for 18-20 minutes or until the peaches are tender.
