Grilled Strip Steaks with Garlic and Oregano

(originally made 7/2008)

After yesterday's lunch fiasco, I was afraid to try another new recipe this week, but this one from Rosie just kept ending at the top of my to-try pile.    Strip steak was out of my price range, but I got one nice sized top loin steak.     Ours marinated for 3 hours, and since Tim is the griller, it became his responsiblity at that point.   Tender, flavorful, delicious!     It definitely will be a repeat recipe, and I think the same mixture would be great on sirloin tips as well.     Thank you to Rosie for a winner of a recipe !!!

Grilled Strip Steaks with Garlic and Oregano

4 strip steaks, about 1 inch thick (I used top loin steak)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon dried oregano, crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground

Combine all ingredients, except steak, in a small mixing bowl. Slather wet rub onto both sides of steak. Place into a shallow dish, cover, and allow to marinate in refrigerator for 2-3 hours.

Preheat grill. Place steaks on grill and cook on high heat for 6-8 minutes on each side.
