Johnsonville Brat Hot Tub

(originally made 7/5/2008)
Our supermarket had Johnsonville brats on sale last week, buy one get one free, so I grabbed 2 packs.    DH often comments how good they look when he sees the commercials, and his favorite was the "Beer Hot Tub".

There are 2 schools of thought on it, some people boil them in the mixture before grilling, others grill and then let them soak in "hot tub".    I did mine the second way, let them simmer after grilling for about 30 mins.    Served them with light rolls, and corn on the cob.     Excellent, and the extra package has been slated to be repeated the same way on our camping trip!

I didn't take a pic of these, but one can be found at this link:

Johnsonville Brat Hot Tub

Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
                        One 11 x 9 x 2 3/8 inch aluminum foil baking pan
  2                     beers -- (2 to 3) (I used 2 Sam Adams)
  2              Tbsp.  butter
1             medium  yellow or white onion -- sliced
  1            package  Johnsonville brats

Put the pan right on the grill, careful not to singe your knuckle hair, pour in the beers and add the butter and onions.  Then grill your Johnsonville Brats to a juicy, golden-brown perfection.  Serve immediately to your hungry guests and place any remaining brats into the steaming hot tub.  When folks are ready for seconds or thirds--or when stragglers show up late - grab a Johnsonville Brat out of the hot tub and enjoy!

Note:  Leftovers were stored in a bowl with the juice and onions and reheated later and DH said they were still great.
