Maple apple crisp

Tim has been asking for apple crisp, but I kept forgetting to pick up brown sugar.   While looking for something else today, I found the last of my bag of maple sugar pushed to the back of the cabinet.    Pulled out this recipe, and tweaked it a little bit more     :)    It's so simple, but so delicious, and can be customized in so many ways.

The pie plate went much too quickly last time, so this time used my enamelware 11x7 and about 7 large apples.    I sprinkled the apples with a little cinnamon and nutmeg before adding the topping.    I also added about 1/2c oats to the topping, and pulsed all the ingredients in the food processor.

Maple Apple Crisp

1/2 cup quick oats, pulsed w/other topping ingredients in food processor- my addition
3/4 Cup Pure Maple Sugar (used 1/2c)
1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
3/4 Cup Flour, Sifted
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Butter (used 3/4 of a stick)
3 Each Apples, Sliced ( I used 7 large to fill 11x9)

Line greased pie pan with sliced apples
Blend remaining ingredients and spoon over the apples (sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired)
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes and then at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes more
For Whipped Cream Topping on any dish, add one tablespoon of Pure Maple Syrup to one cup whipping cream, while beating.
