Basil Garlic Bread- Taste of Home Tuesday

Things are getting hectic around here.   We close on the new house a week from tomorrow, and I've got boxes everywhere and a to do list a mile long.  I've packed half the kitchen, and the challenge has been to make meals only using what I haven't packed.    We've been eating a lot of pasta, and usually we'd eat that with store bought Texas Toast.    I found this recipe in the new Simple & Delicious cookbook, and it was perfect for using up some French Dinner rolls.

I used dried parsley and basil because it's what I had on hand.  Very fast dish to put together and everyone loved it. Thank you so much Stephanie M for sharing your recipe!

                            Basil Garlic Bread

Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
1/4           cup  butter or margarine (used butter)
2        tablespoons  minced fresh parsley (used dried)
1 1/2      teaspoons  minced fresh basil (used 1/2 teaspoon dried basil)
  1                     garlic clove -- minced
     1/4           cup  grated Parmesan cheese
1       (8-ounce) loaf  French bread (used 4 French Dinner Rolls)

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, parsley, basil an garlic. Cover and microwave until butter is melted. Stir in Parmesan cheese. Cut the bread in half lengthwise; place cut side down on an uncovered grill over medium heat for 2 minutes, or broil cut side up for 2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Brush cut side with the butter mixture. Grill or broil 1-2 minutes longer.

  1. This bread looks delicious and is perfect with pasta. I can see serving it with soup too.

  2. What a great way to dress up otherwise plain garlic bread! Basil is a favourite spice. I love the subtle sweetness it adds!

    1. I've been doing lots of lasagna roll ups. I also thought it might make a great roll for a meatball type burger.
